Board of Directors
Effective February 2021, Expect More Arizona, Achieve60AZ and College Success Arizona pooled their resources and teams to become one organization. Rich Nickel, president and CEO of College Success Arizona since 2012, is leading the consolidated organization. This is the result of a year of thoughtful consideration among board members, community stakeholders, and funders, and with Arizona’s students at the center of the decision-making process. Over the next few months, many additional details of the integration, including a new name for the expanded organization, will be worked out.
This alignment will provide greater clarity and cohesion, will result in an even stronger voice for Arizona’s students and educators, and will provide a more robust platform to advance the goals outlined in the Arizona Education Progress Meter. The expanded organization will continue working statewide and with existing community partners of all three previous entities to advance education outcomes for children and adults across the education continuum, from the early years through college and career. The three organizations coming together share a united desire to elevate conversations and action around issues of educational equity and the impact of opportunity gaps on student outcomes.
An immediate change is the addition of several Expect More Arizona board members to the College Success Arizona board:
- Tracy Bame, Freeport-McMoRan Foundation
- Ron Butler, Ernst & Young LLP
- Darcy Renfro, Maricopa Community Colleges
- Deanna Salazar, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona
- Scott Vanderpool, Bank of America
- Shelley Watson, Southern Arizona Leadership Council
