When Our Kids Graduate Prepared, They Achieve Greatness
As parents, we want our children to have every option and opportunity and be self-sufficient when they become adults. As Arizonans, we want our state to be a great place to live, work and raise a family. This requires a strong education system that effectively prepares our students for the future. High school can no longer be the finish line for any child. More education and training are no longer nice-to-haves; they’re essential to get a good job.
Arizonans agree that every child deserves a world-class education. We need transformational change that opens the door to opportunities for every student, ensuring vibrant communities and a strong economy far into the future.
We must make sure all Arizona students receive the support they need to graduate from high school on time, and prepare them to compete with their national and international peers in academic performance and postsecondary degree attainment.
Whether your child is in a cradle or a classroom, now is the time for you to get involved and ensure your child is receiving the highest quality education. Now, it’s more critical than ever to expect more of our own education system and the results it delivers.
You can be part of the solution.
A culture of learning, a lifetime of success
Your involvement in your child’s academic success, at every stage, opens the door to opportunities and increases their options for the future. Part of being an engaged parent is knowing about key academic milestones and what to do at each stage of your child’s academic development. When you know what your child will be learning in the classroom, you and your child’s teacher can identify when your child needs extra help or a greater challenge.

College & Career Planning
You have big dreams for your children: a college degree, a home, a great career. Help them reach their goals by encouraging them to visit Create Your Next, an interactive web app where students can explore careers and stay on track from 8th grade through high school.
You can also click here to download a Checklist for Parents to make sure your child is on track to succeed.

Arizona children deserve an excellent education that prepares them for the future.
AzMERIT is like an annual checkup – an important opportunity to find out how students are doing. Just as doctors check height and weight, teachers and parents use the test to check how students are performing in reading, writing and math.
Although testing is never fun, assessments can be effective tools to support your child’s learning. They can tell you and your child’s teacher if your child is on track to succeed or if he/she needs to spend additional time learning a topic.
