Standards define what students need to know and be able to do by the end of each grade. Teachers and parents use standards to set shared goals for student learning and track student progress.

What are Arizona’s College & Career Ready Standards?

A set of academic standards in math and English for grades K-12. The goal of the standards is to prepare all students with the knowledge and skills they need for life after high school.

What is the difference between standards and curriculum?

Standards are a set of goals that outline what students should know in each grade. Curricula are the materials and textbooks used to teach the standards, which are created or selected by school boards, administrators & teachers.

Teachers and students have been working hard to meet these higher standards for the past 5 years and are making progress! Arizona ranks 2nd in the nation for gains in 8th grade reading and math, and 4th in the nation for gains in 4th grade reading.
