The Quality of Arizona’s Education System Impacts Our Economy and Quality of Life. It’s Time to Expect More.
You don’t have to be a parent to care about what’s happening in education in our state and across the nation. The success of our students impact us all. A skilled, well-educated workforce contributes to a strong economy and the overall quality of life for all Arizonans.
Today, Arizona students are falling behind their national and international peers in academic performance, high school graduation rates and postsecondary degree attainment. And the gap is only widening between the preparedness of our graduates, and the skills and knowledge employers require. Although incremental change in student preparedness will deliver powerful results for our students and our state, we need transformational change that opens the door to opportunities and ensures a highly skilled workforce far into the future.
Arizona’s future leaders are in today’s cradles and classrooms. As other states and nations become more competitive and successful at producing highly skilled individuals, it’s more critical than ever to expect more of our own education system and the results it delivers. This begins with making education Arizona’s top priority.
