We are very excited to announce two new members of our outreach and mobilization team, helping us to reach more individuals with our message of world-class education for all Arizona students and engaging Arizonans across the state to join the Expect More Arizona movement.

Leticia de La Vara joins the team as Vice President of Outreach and Mobilization and will lead the strategic outreach of Expect More Arizona’s statewide presence. Advocating for educational excellence for all Arizona students, Leticia has vast experience in mobilizing Arizonans, including significant work in the Latino communities with One Arizona and the National Council of La Raza. Leticia also brings experience in family engagement and college-preparedness, having served as an integral part of the development of the American Dream Academy at ASU.  Leticia’s extensive background has allowed great collaborative opportunities and exposure to the business, community, academic and non-profit arenas, as well as involvement with elected officials at the local and national level. Leticia is also active on numerous boards and serves as a member of the Morrison Institute’s Latino Advisory Council. She has also previously served on the Neighborhood Housing Services of Phoenix Governing Board as well as various Arizona State University advisory boards.

Based in Flagstaff, Heidi Roux joins the team as a Community Mobilizer where she will support grassroots and community partnerships in Northern Arizona. Prior to joining Expect More Arizona, she led the outreach efforts of a federal grant to raise awareness and reduce child maltreatment in Northern Arizona, where she gained experience in working with Arizona’s Tribal communities. Previous to this position, Heidi coordinated various projects to prevent gang violence and sexual assault.  She also brings experience in conducting focus groups in Spanish and English across the nation to better understand the pulse of communities on a number of issues. Heidi is involved in her community, including serving as a board member of the Coconino County Hispanic Advisory Council and the Coconino Coalition for Children and Youth.

“With the monumental task of raising expectations and ensuring world-class education for every Arizona student, it is essential that we find organizational leaders who are passionate about education,” said Pearl Chang Esau, president and CEO of Expect More Arizona. “Leticia and Heidi are incredibly committed to education in Arizona and we are honored to have them join the team. With their help, we are ready to expand our programs and community impact over the next year.”

Leticia and Heidi join current Senior Community Mobilizer Donna Davis to achieve Expect More Arizona’s mission. Donna has been with Expect More Arizona since 2010 and has helped the organization reach more than 12,000 individuals with the message of world-class excellence for all. Currently Donna is a member of the Governor’s Workforce Policy Council, as well as the Arizona Commission on Service and Volunteerism and is a graduate of Leadership West, Class 3.

This dynamic trio will be making their way across Arizona, spreading the word about world-class education in Arizona. No doubt, you may have the opportunity to greet them in person sometime soon… but, please welcome Leticia and Heidi and say hi to Donna in the comments below.
